How car donation works in Alaska

The full process from form to tax receipt — nothing hidden.

At Alaska Wheels Forward, we believe that every vehicle donation can make a significant impact in our communities. Our process is designed with Alaskans in mind, streamlining everything from the initial inquiry to the final tax receipt. By connecting vehicle donations directly to local benefits research services, we ensure that Alaskan families have access to vital programs like SNAP and WIC. Join us in making a difference while clearing out that unused vehicle!

The full process

Day 1

Inquire About Donation

Start your donation journey by reaching out to us online or via phone. Our friendly team, familiar with the unique needs of Alaskans, will guide you through the process. We’ll gather information about your vehicle's make, model, and condition, helping you understand how it contributes to local resources.

Day 2-3

Provide Vehicle Details

After your initial contact, we’ll ask for more details about your vehicle. Let us know if it's running or non-running, and any other relevant specifics. This helps us determine the best path for your donation and ensures that your vehicle can provide maximum benefit to your community.

Day 4

Schedule Pickup

Our team will work with you to schedule a convenient pickup time. We understand that with Alaska’s varying weather conditions and remote locations, flexibility is key. We'll arrange a pickup that works for you, whether you're in Anchorage, Fairbanks, or out in the bush.

Pickup Day

Vehicle Pickup

On the scheduled day, our courteous driver will arrive to pick up your vehicle. We take care of all the logistics, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free experience. You can feel good knowing that this simple step helps support vital services for fellow Alaskans in need.

Day 5-7

Transport the Vehicle

Once picked up, your vehicle will be transported to a secure location. Here, it will be assessed for value and prepared for auction or recycling. By handling the vehicle locally, we keep costs down, ensuring that more funds go directly towards supporting Alaskan communities.

Day 8-10

Auction or Recycling

Your vehicle will either be auctioned off to the highest bidder or recycled responsibly. In both cases, every dollar earned will support our benefits-research service, which directly helps Alaskans access vital programs. Your donation is making a real difference right here at home.

Within 30 Days

Proceeds Allocated

All proceeds from your vehicle will be directed to funding our research on local benefits programs. This ensures that the funds you helped generate go directly to helping individuals and families in Alaska find the resources they need, like WIC and DenaliCare, enhancing community well-being.

Within 30 Days

Receive Tax Receipt

Shortly after your vehicle has been processed, you will receive a tax receipt via mail. This document allows you to claim a deduction on your taxes, providing you with additional benefits while supporting your neighbors in need through your generous donation.

What to expect

Free Pickup

We provide complimentary vehicle pickup anywhere in Alaska, ensuring no additional costs for our donors.

Supports Local Families

Your vehicle donation funds our research services, helping local families connect with essential benefits like SNAP and LIHEAP.

Tax Deductible

All vehicle donations are tax-deductible, offering you financial benefits while making a difference in your community.

At Alaska Wheels Forward, your vehicle donation is more than just a transaction; it’s an investment in the future of our local communities. By supporting research into essential benefit programs, we’re working together to ensure that all Alaskans, from Ketchikan to Barrow, have access to the resources they need. Your generosity can create lasting change right here in the Last Frontier.
